The Pelican on Portland has been one of my favourite places to stop at with the kids since it opened in 2014. It’s changed management a few times recently and gone through a bit of a wobble, but it seems to be coming out the other side now. They have a new chef and manager, a new menu and lots of great ideas for making it even more child friendly.
I love it there because they have vegan options and cake that Big S and I can eat and are pretty clued up on providing allergy friendly meals (plus the great coffee and large play room at the back that occupies Big S and Little D so I can relax for a while are pretty big draws too). Their breakfasts are particularly good so I was a bit concerned when I’d heard that they were revamping them, but I needn’t have worried!
After a busy morning making bird themed crafts at Hove museum (a special half term offering), we took our slightly grubby and paint splattered selves off to the Pelican for a lazy lunch. It was definitely a good idea!
The kids had a play, we all had a nice lunch and we left refreshed ready for more half term activities (monster crafts at Mile Oak library this time, which was brilliant; well organised, nice crafts and great value at 4 craft projects for £1. We’ll definitely be checking for their holiday activities again come the summer).
